Monday marked Corinthians’ 104th birthday and two special English visitors were at the club to help them celebrate.
The two men were Jay Barrymore and Chris Watney, directors of Corinthian-Casuals, the amateur English team that inspired five factory workers to set up Sport Club Corinthians Paulista in 1910.
Barrymore and Watney met with Corinthians Marketing Director Alexandre Ferreira at the Parque São Jorge to discuss future partnerships between the two famous clubs.
They raised the possibility of a friendly match between the teams here in Brazil at the end of 2014 or at the start of 2015. They talked about producing a documentary focusing on the special relationship between Corinthians and Corinthian-Casuals and also discussed how to better work together and promote the two brands on both sides of the Atlantic.
The day before the meeting, Jay and Chris were at the Arena Corinthians to see the Timao’s 1-1 draw with Fluminense. Before going home to England they will be back at the Arena for Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil second leg against Bragantino.
More news will be announced as and when it happens.
