Old Carthusians |
Casuals kicked off the tournament against the all conquering Arthurian League champions Old Carthusians, who incidentally have an even more elaborate shirt design than the hosts, parading a pink, red and blue striped shirt.
Carthusians began the game brightly and Tyrone Myton was forced to clear off the Casuals line after only three minutes. Myton was involved at the other end shortly afterwards when he flashed a long range effort wide. Russell Banyard was next to try his luck with a volley which flew wide. On 13 minutes Casuals took the lead when Paul Hunt's delicate chip dropped just over the outstretched hand of the keeper.
Casuals looked in control and Mark Towse went close in the second half, before the aforementioned player ran through with five minutes left to seal victory with a cool finish.
In the other semi final the Royal Engineers defeated Old Etonians 2-0. The third-fourth place play off followed and Old Carthusians ran out comfortable 4-1 winners over the Old Etonians.
