Casuals slipped to what in some ways was a very unfortunate defeat. It is true that Casuals sat back in the second half in an attempt to hold on to a one goal lead, but seven minutes of madness and a referee whose concentration was severely lacking plus was far too easily influenced by the crowd contrived to send the amateurs crashing to defeat.
Casuals opened brightly and took the lead after six minutes when Trevor Robinson hit a thunderous drive which almost broke the net. The amateurs were in the ascendancy and with a bit more luck could have added to their total as Dan Jackson scuffed the best chance and Dulwich foiled several positive breaks.
Dulwich though eased their way back into the game and dominated the last 15 minutes of the first half without looking like scoring. Laurent Hamici came closest with a long range effort which Colin Harris pushed wide.
The second half was again controlled by Dulwich as the game became niggly after poor decisions by the referee incensed the players and the crowd at regular intervals. Dulwich though again looked like they were never going to get the break through, until seven minutes of madness saw a Casuals collapse. On 70 minutes Lee Matthews pushed a Dulwich attacker and the resulting penalty was comfortably despatched by Hamici. Five minutes later Matthews then contrived to pass the ball straight to a Dulwich player in a poor attempt to clear and Gary Noel put the home side in front.
As if things could not get any worse Tyrone Myton was dismissed for a second booking, before on 78 minutes Mark Towse gave the ball away in midfield and from the resulting breakaway Steve May secured the three points for Dulwich. Chris Horwood and Jow Nwoko had late efforts as the ten man Casuals attempted to rally, but to no avail.
