After last weeks display when we went out of the FA Youth Cup to a team that wanted it more than us, we resumed our league programme with a home game against Carshalton. We started brightly with 2 good chances, which we could not convert, in the first 5 minutes. The game was even until Carshalton took the lead against the run of play. We tried to get back into the game but then conceded another goal on the stroke of half time. Not too despondant, we went into the changing room upbeat about the second half.
Second half and again we conceded another sloppy goal. The lads tried to get back into the game and were rewarded with a shot that creeped in via the near post by our new signing from Kingstonian, Derry Mensah. We tried hard to break Carshalton's resistance even when they had player sent off in last ten mins for unsportmanlike behaviour after getting booked earlier for late challenge
I cannot fault the team for effort and commitment when we only had 16 players to use out of squad of 23 due to other commitments and injuries. Next week 24/09/08 we are home to Tooting and Mitcham kick off 19.45hrs. Also hope Ryan Augustine gets better soon, as after game he went to hospital and got confirmed that he had twisted his knee and broke a bone in his toe after a late challenge.
