Corinthian-Casuals began their pre-season tour of Wales in windswept Pretatyn Town on Saturday and produced a creditable performance against the newly promoted League of Wales outfit. Manager Brian Adamson, can take a lot of positives from this performance and with five of last year's regulars still to return, can look forward to the coming season with a degree of optimism.

Prestatyn started sprightly and looked a tough proposition from the outset with some sharp, crisp passing which generally culminated with the ball ending up in the danger area. Town were however shot shy to a certain degree and Casuals slowly eased their way into the contest, and began to work openings.

Prestatyn took the lead on 33 minutes when Gareth Davies volleyed home an impressive opener. Casuals responded with some good approach play, without looking particularly dangerous before the interval.

The second half saw the game open up as both sides began to attack strongly. Tom Jelley shot wide shortly after the resumption and Paul Smith saved well at the feet of Ian Griffiths minutes later. Jason Hanif saw his effort saved by the Welsh team's goal keeper, before Town produced perhaps the best opening of the match when Steve Hoult crossed for Ross Hannan, who just headed marginally over the bar.

Prestatyn looked strong and had they delayed their runs slightly instead of getting caught repeatedly offside, could well have added more, but Casuals survived and were looking capable of grabbing an equaliser when disaster struck and John Fisher-Cooke was given a free header to seal the victory for the League of Wales side.
