Casuals crashed to another defeat in their latest pre-season friendly, but it was an even contest and but for two minutes of madness towards the end of the first half would have earned a deserved point. Manager Brian Adamson used the first half to experiment, before second half substitutions saw Casuals look a much more potent force.
Casuals began brightly when Jason Hanif shot wide after eight minutes, but the game was close with neither side making much headway. Badshot began to push for a goal and came close on 28 minutes. Seven minutes later a mistake by Colin Harris allowed the Badshot forward to shoot into an empty net and disaster struck two minutes later following another defensive mix up.
In the second half Casuals should have scored four goals at least, but also survived a penalty when Paul Smith saved well on 55 minutes. Before this Luke Edghill went close and Mark Towse hit the post. One of the best bit of play came from Russell Banyard on 57 minutes when he controlled a long pass, cut inside before shooting from 25 yards, but unfortunately the Badshot keeper tipped it around the post.
Edghill, Jelley and Tyrone Myton all went close for Casuals, but it was not to be their night. Casuals can take heart from some positive approach play and a solid all round second half performance.
