In 2014, Corinthian-Casuals officially celebrates its 75th birthday (the merger of the two famous clubs happened in 1939) and what no better way to celebrate a birthday than to receive hundreds of wishes from the people close to the club...the fans!

Further, the club received special wishes from Chairman of the FA, Greg Dyke and Mario Gobbi Filho, President of Corinthians Paulista in Brazil (see picture). Plaudits have also come from former England Cricket Captain and member, Alec Stewart and Sky Sport's Martin Tyler

What's more, FIFA President Sepp Blatter has joined in with the congratulations with him describing the news of Casuals impending tour to Brazil as a "fantastic story". The story of the link between the clubs has also recently featured on FIFA's website which can be seen here.

Celebration of the Century

Last Saturday, Corinthian-Casuals celebrated 75 years of the merger between the two famous amateur clubs and they did it in style… with a 7-0 rout of relegated Redhill.

Advertised as a family fun day with free entry, kid’s entertainment and live music, a bumper crowd watched as Casuals tore their hapless hosts apart. First half goals from Captain Joe Hicks, Ross Defoe, Mahrez Bettache and Saheed Sankoh put the hosts firmly in control. And things didn’t get any better for Redhill in the second period; Ellis Wilson-Joseph made it five before man of the match Jamie Byatt added two more goals to his already impressive tally of thirty for the season.

Byatt celebrated in style with his shirt paying homage to Brazillian side S.C. Corinthians Paulista – who maintain strong ties to their forefathers in Tolworth. In fact, Byatt’s celebration shots drew the attention of Corinthian fans in Brazil with thousands sharing the images via social media… a testament to the +118,000 followers of Corinthian-Casuals on Facebook.

Pictures from the day can be seen here.

Corinthian-Casuals has a history with penalties in the beautiful game but on this occasion the football club is very proud to support the new charity campaign, "It's a Penalty", run by British based charity Happy Child International.

At Tuesday's launch in London, Club Secretary Gary Weir together with Chris Watney attended the event where Gary Lineker spoke of the need to get involved and raise awareness before the World Cup about the sexual exploitation of children.

With Gary Lineker, Frank Lampard, Alan Shearer, David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires all involved, we encourage everyone to spread the word. The club will announce "It's a Penalty" as match sponsor for an upcoming fixture soon.

As Corinthian-Casuals has great following in Brazil Club Secretary Gary Weir sees a real opportunity to help spread the message to fans both in England and Brazil. "Corinthian-Casuals is unique not just in Non-league but throughout the football league too. Our online following from Brazilians on Facebook makes us the 25th most followed club in England on this platform", commented Gary. He continues, "We have an unrivalled reach due to our historic link with Corinthians Paulista and immediately identified the need to support Happy Child's "It's a Penalty" campaign to raise awareness".

Chris Watney, current squad player and Co-Founder of Red Barrel Productions, was also present and was influential in bringing the club and charity together. Chris has identified opportunities to raise further awareness of the "It's a penalty" campaign as he continues his work on Vai Corinthians - The Film which will see the club tour São Paulo in May.

Our Natal Christmas loto draw for one lucky winner will be drawn by Jason after our next home match against Leatherhead so make sure you purchase some tickets (up to a maximum of ten) from our online club shop today.

The lucky winner will also win a matchday programme signed by the team and we will ensure delivery to the winner's very door.
