Not only will you be joining a wonderful team of fabulous people, helping a big part of our community, but all of our volunteers can expect free entry to all home games, and some away matches where available. Also free boardroom drinks and post-match food as well as other perks where possible. Some roles will also offer you a place on our Management Committee and a potential for commission-based compensation.

Matchday Secretary
To assist in the matchday administration for the club. The responsibilities and roles will include the liaison with match officials & club opposition and the completion of matchday paperwork and some reports following games. This is a voluntary post and will require you to be available for the majority of home and away games, all with free admission.

Commercial Manager
The Commercial Manager shall take primary responsibility for aspects of the Club’s revenue generation. This includes corporate sponsorship deals and generally pursuing and converting income generating opportunities for the football club. Includes maximising sales in areas including perimeter boards, programme advertisements; match sponsorships, match day hospitality and event organisation and implementation. Commission opportunities available.

Also, maintaining an up-to-date database of members and issuing new members welcome packs and newsletters on a periodic basis.

Match Reporter / Matchday Social Media
The match-day reporter will be responsible for match reports for the website and potential for sending to local media outlets. Also desirable would be matchday updates on social media platforms. We’re keen to boost our video output too, so an enthusiastic videographer capturing elements of the games and other content would be fantastic.

Women’s Team General Manager
At present Corinthian-Casuals do not have an adult women's team and we are keen to rectify this. We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to champion this project. With full support from the Committee, you’d head up the process of forming and administering a team, market it and form ties with the local community. You would be supporting a long-term project to bring women's football to one of the world's most historic football clubs.

If you are interested in joining our team for any of the roles listed above or in any capacity you believe would be of help to us, please make yourself known to any of the committee on a match day, or email our Secretary, Hanna Newton at secretary@ccfcltd.co.uk

It is with heavy hearts that we tell you our record-breaking, history-making manager James Bracken is stepping down now the season is over.

The last seven years with James at the helm have been fantastic. His drive, ambition and achievements are second to none and his unwavering involvement with everything from the ground up has been given with integrity and charm. James is part of the very fabric of this club, so it is a sad day all round.

James has been more than just a manager for us. He's a friend, a big part of our CCFC family, and a club stalwart. He's given us more than we dreamed possible as an amateur club and we are very thankful for everything he's done both with and for us.

James, we wish you the absolute best in your next steps and look forward to seeing where your pure talent and exceptional hard work takes you in the years to come. Thank you for everything, we'll miss you, our door is always open.

Corinthian-Casuals to Tour Antarctica

Corinthian-Casuals are set to return to their pioneering roots by embarking on an historic tour… of Antarctica.

The club will follow in the footsteps of the great Corinthians who promoted football around the world taking the beautiful game to Europe, South Africa, and of course, the Americas. However, one continent yet to fully embrace ‘soccer’ is the vast land of Antarctica.

Antarctica is the world's southernmost continent resting in the Antarctic Circle and surrounded by the Southern Ocean. With 5.4 million square miles of area, it's the 5th largest continent. It has a population of nearly 4,500 people yet football is very much an afterthought. It’s hoped that Corinthian-Casuals can spread the good word of the game to these people.

The continent does have a National team who play outside of FIFA, and the tour is hoped to raise the profile. For authenticity, games will be played on the icy fields with temperatures regularly reaching below -20°C and gale force winds – so not much different from King George’s at Tolworth.

Club spokesperson Charles ‘Smokey’ Bacon said “It’s wonderful to break the news of this pioneering tour, following in the footsteps of our Corinthian forefathers. Of course, we’re already prepared for the jokes regarding playing teams of Polar Bears, but the jokes on them, as they live in the Arctic, not Antarctica!”

“We’ll be playing penguins.”

“Am I going? Good lord, no! Too cold for that. And I’ve been to Brightlingsea! But good luck to the players.. We’ve chosen January 2023 as the time for our tour as it’s the warmest month in the South Pole. I mean, we’re not that cruel!

Striker Nathaniel Pinney said “it’s a great opportunity and for once, I can justifiably wear my gloves during a game.”

Post Match Interview - Cameron Beckles

Picture
Eight players from our thrilling FA Youth Cup run were included in the first-team squad for our Surrey Senior Cup second-round tie against Carshalton Athletic and six of them made their debuts: Cameron Beckles, Victor Koah, Rory Edwards, Josh Green, Jaevon Dyer and Ado Amankwah - writes Dominic Bliss.

For Beckles it was a night to remember as he marked his first-team bow with a goal in the 2-2 draw and then stepped up to convert one of our penalties in a 4-2 shootout victory as Danny Bracken performed heroics between the sticks in his 500th game.

Unsurprisingly, Beckles wore a broad grin when we spoke to him afterwards. Here’s what the teenage centre-back had to say about it all…

EMOTIONS
I’m feeling pretty excited to be honest. On the outside I wasn’t showing my emotion too much but inside I was buzzing. I didn’t want to get too excited when I scored because there were still a good 75 minutes to go, so we still had a job to do.

YOUNGSTERS GETTING A CHANCE
We all felt like we played really well in the Youth Cup so it’s always good to do something for the first team and progress in men’s football. Compared to 18s football, it’s a lot different, the tempo is a lot quicker but I think all the boys did well. Everyone managed it, no one put a foot wrong and we got the win, which is the most important thing.

SENIOR PLAYERS AMONG THEM
It’s good to learn from them and their experience because eventually we’re gonna be the senior players, so obviously we need to learn from them and build from here. For Danny Bracken to make 500 appearances at 31 is crazy, and he pulled off two brilliant saves in the shootout.

SHOOTOUT
We had a penalty shootout in the Youth Cup and I took the first one, so it wasn’t really something to overthink, I just thought straight away I wanted a pen. There weren’t really too many nerves when I stepped up because they’d missed so it would’ve been equal if I’d have missed, but I knew I wasn’t missing. So far, I’m 100 per cent from the spot in competitive games.

FANS
It was pretty sick to play in front of what was a decent crowd and they really got behind us. It was brilliant. It was pretty good fun to play and know the crowd were there as well, especially when I scored.

JAMES BRACKEN’S INSTRUCTIONS
He told us to relax, to play our game, not to get nervous and just enjoy it, because it was all our first games. I know it was a first-team game, but we shouldn’t put too much pressure on ourselves. At half-time, we were 2-1 up and that’s when I learned. We came in, and James wasn’t over the top, but he calmed us down. Even when we were winning, he told us what we needed to do better and it really shows that he’s all about winning, to be honest. It’s a good mentality.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO COME?
I hope so because it’s a brilliant club to play at.

Danny Bracken - A Career in 20 Black & White Images

By Club Photographer Stuart Tree

As a photographer who’s been taking pictures of Corinthian-Casuals as long as Danny Bracken has been playing for the club, you can probably gather that I’ve taken a LOT of photos of him. As Dan reaches ever closer to five hundred competitive games for the club, I’ve been trawling through the archives, looking back at all of the images that he’s prominently featured in. It soon dawned on me that this task would take a very long time, picking out all of my favourite photos. There's literally hundreds upon hundreds!

What I did notice was my black and white collection featuring Dan was far less numerous. Yet the beauty of monochrome photos is they’re often far more impactful than their colour counterparts.

So here is twenty of my favourite black and white photos of Captain, Leader, Legend Danny Bracken and when they were taken.

Picture
An early photo of Dan remonstrating with the referee over a decision long since forgotten about. Those that have seen Danny play will know he’s not shy in letting officials know what he thinks.
Picture
Danny not looking all too pleased at Hastings United’s Pilot Field as Casuals went down 2-1 in 2014 to their hosts.
Picture
Facing his youngest penalty taker, Dan was an inspiration to many of the kids at the KFC project in Sao Paulo, run by former Corinthian and Brazilian international, Kleber.
Picture
He’s earned the name on the back of his shirt. The firs time we’d seen ‘Bracken’ with the now ever-present number one. Taken at the John Mills Invitational Tournament in Sao Paulo in which Casuals were the winners.
Picture
Is there anything more cool for a footballer to play beach soccer on Copacabana beach? Here’s Bracks with teammates Danny Green, Juevan Spencer and Joe Davies playing with a skilful local.
Picture
Back to reality as Dan fetches the ball across the vastness of the athletics track at the now demolished Stompond Lane. Icy conditions saw Bracks tread carefully.
Picture
Another ‘International’ trip, this time to Guernsey for an Isthmian League South fixture as Dan relaxes on the flight over to the Channel Islands.
Picture
With teammates Carl Wilson Denis and Andy Mills following another win back in 2015.
Picture
Silhouetted against the floodlights of Hendon FC – Casuals were honoured to be the very first opponents welcomed to Silver Jubilee Park, though losing out 4-1 to our Premier opponents in the London Senior Cup Quarter Final.
Picture
Having a laugh with former captain Jason Turley on the tour in Brazil, heading off to another outing in Sao Paulo. Dan is often seen as one of the most infectiously funny players in the squad.
Picture
Always competitive no matter what the game. Here’s Bracks and ‘Busy’ Jamie Byatt disputing the scoreline in a game of table football at Corinthians’ training ground in Sao Paulo.
Picture
‘Busy’ and Bracks remonstrate with their Brazilian counterparts at table football in the impressive training facilities of the Corinthians.
Picture
Head of the class. Dan leads the questions to former Arsenal Invincible and then Director of Football at Corinthians, Edu – who was the consummate professional and perfect host for us in a Q&A session.
Picture
Ready for the big match. Captain Joe Hicks and Dan release any nerves in the tunnel before the historic match between Corinthians Paulista and Corinthian-Casuals in January 2015.
Picture
All change. Now Captain, Dan has a laugh with his new teammates following the appointment of his brother James Bracken as First Team Manager. Here’s Dan with Ben Cotton, Josh Uzun, Terry Murray, Brandon Johnson and old buddy Danny Dudley at Sittingbourne.
Picture
A foggy Worthing evening in 2015 – Casuals had beaten the league contenders 2-0 in the opening match of the season but succumbed to a 3-0 reverse on this night.
Picture
On the scoresheet. Josh Uzun won a penalty. However, he was injured in the process so up stepped Dan to take the resulting penalty. Ever confident from the spot, he scored his one goal for the club against Croydon Athletic. Dan is always up for taking penalties, even scoring in the playoff final against Dorking Wanderers.
Picture
Come rain or shine – or mostly rain, Dan will always be there. The heavens opened at Leiston as Casuals recorded a wonderful 2-1 victory over their higher league opponents in the FA Trophy in 2015.
Picture
Preparing for another vital match, Dan goes through a pre-match ritual to ensure he’s in the best frame of mind for the game ahead. This was before the 1-0 win over Hornchurch in 2021.
Picture
Being the Captain has its responsibilities. Leading the team out wearing one of the Socrates famous headbands given to us by the icon’s widow was bestowed to Danny as we commemorated the tenth anniversary of the Brazilian’s passing in December 2021.
