Corinthian-Casuals Academy 4 - 3 AFC Wimbledon
Wednesday 11th October 2017
National League U19 Alliance
Match report by Stephen Eacott

Casuals Academy got their first league win of the season with a home win over AFC Wimbledon in what was a thrilling encounter.
Casuals got off to the perfect start in just 25 seconds when Brockwell took advantage of a poor back pass, running in on goal, he had time to pick his spot passed the diving keeper to make it 1-0.
Things got even better on 3 minutes when they were awarded a free kick 5 yards outside the box, Kristensen stepped up hit a low drive which took a slight deflection passed the keeper.
It could have been 3 on 14 minutes when Casuals worked the ball well into the box only to see wheelers effort well saved.
Things were looking good for Casuals at this point with Leach, Alkhozali and Thorpe working well in defence and Kristensen strong in midfield, Dobson was called upon to put a shot well outside the box over the bar, then made an even better save diving at full stretch from a shot that had carried in the wind from just inside the Casuals half.
Kristensen then had another free kick from almost an identical position as his first. His shot hit the post flew across the goal where Foxley should have had a tap in, but he hit it on the volley and saw it rise over the bar from 6 yards out. Casuals made it 3-0 on 34 minutes when Roffey found himself inside the box squared a perfect pass to Kristensen who struck a low drive into the bottom corner.
Roffey had another great run into the box this time seeing his own effort well saved again by the keeper who was having a good afternoon. Greig also came close seeing his shot go over the bar as the half came to a finish at 3-0.
The half kicked off with Casuals now kicking with the wind, Manager Matt Howard was forced into his first change on 58 minutes when Brockwell was replaced by Srikanthan with an ankle injury.
62 minutes and the visitors were back in the game when a good inswinging corner was headed home from close range. AFC were now driving forward more and more resulting in Dobson having to make another great save to his left. Casuals had a good penalty shout, Roffey again finding himself inside the box was clipped, he managed to stay on his feet but saw his shot saved, if he had gone down I don’t think the ref would have had any option but to point to the spot.
87 minutes had passed when a through ball by AFC reached the forward, he did well to get past 2 casual defenders then slot passed the diving Dobson to make it 3-2 Alkhozali had a great free kick well saved before Casuals were awarded a corner, taken by Kristensen to the far post where Roffey was waiting to hit the ball with a sweet half volley to make it 4-2. AFC scored with another through ball but Casuals managed to hold out for the much welcomed 3 points.

Corinthian-Casuals Academy 1 - 1 Fulham (Coulsdon)
Wednesday 4th October 2017
National League U19 Alliance
Match report by Stephen Eacott

As said in football many times, this certainly was a game of two halves, with a slope and strong wind to contend with.  Casuals were playing down the slope in the first half with Fulham having the wind.

Casuals started the game well, passing the ball round in midfield and the defence winning the early battles. They were rewarded for their efforts in the 7th minute when Roffey and Foxley combined well down the left flank which ended in Roffey putting in a good ball to Josh Greig who took a touch then fired the ball home.

Both sides were guilty of missed chances: Henry Dobson was called into action on 16 minutes when a shot from inside the box produced a fine save with him diving low to his right. The half ended with both teams regretting their missed chances.

The second half started with Fulham now playing with the wind and were having much the better of the early exchanges; the game was level on 60 minutes when a run in from the right wasn't closed down and was allowed to continue his run into the box then hit a low drive past Dobson into the bottom corner.

The game came to an end with the score level at 1-1. On another day this game may well of finished 4-4 all be it for poor finishing. A little more composure in front of goal could have seen Casuals take all 3 points but, all in all, a well-deserved draw.
