Corinthian-Casuals cruised through to the 2nd round of the Robert Dyas with a comfortable victory over South Park at King Georges Arena. James Bracken will be especially happy after giving several players their first starts of the season and he was rewarded as his side never looked back following Juevan Spencer's 7th minute opener. Josh Uzun dispatched his second goal in as many games shortly before the break and two second half strikes from substitutes Ben Cotton and Emmanual Akokhia sealed a safe passage through to the next round of the league cup. Juevan Spencer left out of Saturdays starting line up hit a brace and Emmanuel Akokhia a late 3rd as James Brackens side put in another impressive performance. And Bracken praised his winger for his contributions. Bracken said, “Juevan knows what I want from him. He knows what he needs to do to play in the side. We spoke to him in the Summer and said he needs to add goals to his game and he’s scored two tonight. “We haven’t got a bad player here at Casuals and Juevan falls into the category of another good player. Spencer’s two goals were complimented by a skilful strike from Emmanuel Akokhia – his third in two games. The result sees Casuals rise to second in the league on goal difference and Bracken’s side have yet to concede in the league. “The boys have been absolutely outstanding again. After Saturday, you worry if they’re going to get to that level again of energy, commitment and quality of football but they went out there and just done it all over again from the first whistle. “Tooting are another decent side and both teams we’ve played so far have been good but we’re playing well. “The boys are loving it at the moment. Playing here every week, enjoying it and winning is of course giving them a great feeling. They’re such a good unit and they trust me. “Let’s see where we are after ten games and again by Christmas but we’ll just keep plugging away, remain focused and work hard.” A full match report will follow in the morning. Dont forget if you cant join us, follow all the action on Twitter @corinthiancas Corinthian-Casuals cruised past a strongly favoured Worthing side in the opening day of the Ryman League Division One season. A first half brace from Emmanuel Akokhia was enough to see of the coastal visitors but easily could've been more in a dominant display. Opening with a well placed shot in the 4th minute, Akokhia added to his tally (pictured left) by rounding the keeper to slot into an empty net just before the half hour mark. It could've easily been more; Diego Maradona forced excellent saves from the Worthing keeper and kept the scoreline to a respectable level. An often feisty affair, Casuals put in a performance which saw them defend well after the break yet still look like the more likely to score. Worthing, who'd had an excellent pre-season, scoring 16 goals in their last three games offered very little and only mustered one shot on target all game. Pics are available here and the goals can be seen here Corinthian Casuals v Worthing Saturday 8th August 3pm Ryman Division One South The wait is over as James Bracken leads his side into competitive action for the first time at the helm as Worthing make the trip on the opening day of the season.
