Herne Bay 2-1 Casuals

Casuals paid the price for a slow start as they went down 2-1 at Herne Bay.

After Jamie Byatt had an effort disallowed for offside within the first 60 seconds the afternoon took a turn for the worse and within 20 minutes Casuals found themselves two down.

As ever a second half improvement saw the visitors come back into the match but despite Lee Hall's penalty 20 minutes from time the home side held on. To add to Casuals frustrations the game was held up for 10 minutes in injury time as the hosts seemingly ran out of balls.

Saturday 27th September 3pm
Ryman Division One South

After a trio of home games Casuals hit the road this weekend as we make the long journey down into South East Kent to take on Herne Bay.

At Winch's field our hosts have a great record this season taking 15 from a possible 18 points on their own manor. It's only their away record where they have yet to register a win that stops them from becoming serious contenders so far this season and they come into the match having lost their last two matches albeit on their travels, the latest being a disappointing defeat at Redhill during the week.

Casuals on a high following the superb second half performance against Chipstead on Tuesday will be hoping for a repeat of last seasons corresponding fixture on April fools day when a late Dave Hodges effort earned them a 2-1 victory.

Admission is £8 adults / £4 concessions with U12's £1

A wonderfully-crafted goal from Mahrez Bettache gave Casuals a share of the points against Tooting and Mitcham United in the Ryman League Division One South. A first half lead by the visitors wasn't enough to take all three points back to Imperial Fields as a much improved second-half performance from the Casuals saw them peg back the Terrors to finish one-apiece. A full match report will be online shortly.

A bad day at the office saw Corinthian-Casuals lose 4-1 at home to Three Bridges. Juevan Spencer's early goal was the only highlight for the home side as a commanding second half performance from Bridges, coupled with defensive errors, soon saw the visitors inflict Casuals' worst result of the season.

Redhilll 2-3 Casuals

It was all smiles on a Saturday for the first time this season as Casuals won 3-2 in an action packed affair at Kiln Brow.

Chris O'Flaherty had given the home side the lead in controversial circumstances after 25 minutes when the linesman adjudged his effort had crept over the line.
Casuals themselves benefited from a decision when they were awarded a penalty 11 minutes later which Jamie Byatt converted.(pictured below)

The second half saw the visitors take the lead when skipper Joe Hicks volleyed home. However with 17 minutes remaining match referee Ashley Slaughter collapsed with an allergic reaction after being stung. The match was held up for around half an hour as paramedics arrived on the scene. Thankfully Mr Slaughter appeared to have recovered by the time he was taken away.
This sparked debate between the two sets of management about if the game should continue with the home side wanting the match abandoned. However the league rules state the match must end even if its with two officials. As it was a member of Redhill was a qualified official and ran the line for the last 17 minutes.

In that period Carl Wilson-Dennis (pictured celebrating above) tapped home to open his Casuals account to seal the 3 points, there was still time for Gavin Gordon to neatly finish with the last kick of the match.

The result see's Casuals move up to second in the table.

Finally and most importantly, everyone at the club would like to send their wishes to Ashley Slaughter and hope all is well.

Saturday 7th September 3pm
Ryman Division One South

After Tuesdays thrilling second half performance against Guernsey, Casuals will be looking to maintain their good start to the season.

Our hosts have accrued 5 points from their opening 6 games and unlike us, overcame their Horsham opponents in the FA (YMCA 2-0 after a replay).

In last seasons fixture Casuals left Kiln Brow with a 3-0 victory thanks to strikes from Spencer, Byatt and Goddard.

Saturdays see's the annual non-league day and we encourage as many fans as possible to make the short journey to cheer us on.
