Casuals recorded their first win in 8 games as they turned in a solid display to beat Hastings United.

A superbly worked Carl Wilson-Denis goal after 36 minutes was enough to claim all 3 points.

A solid performance rarely saw Casuals threatened at the back with Danny Bracken in commanding form.

The result lifts Casuals up to 7th in the table.

Casuals recent run of bad form continued as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at 'Moatside'

Ex-Leatherhead striker Tommy Hutchings took the plaudits with a hat-trick.

Two goals before half time gave the hosts a firm grip of the game and the experienced front man grabbed the match ball with 20 minutes remaining.

Full report, reaction and pictures to follow

*There was better news for the reserves as they recorded a 2-1 victory over Hampton and Richmond Boro in the 1st leg of the Suburban League Cup. Witter and Salako with the goals*

Casuals will be looking to bounce back from their mid -week disappointment  in the Trophy as they travel to 'Moatside' to face Merstham.

Our hosts are in a terrific run of form having won their last five in all competitions and and with both teams sat on 24 points in the congested top half of the table Saturdays encounter is nicely poised.

Last seasons fixture at almost the same stage of the season saw the then 2nd bottom Casuals take all 3 points thanks to a late Jamie Byatt penalty.

Casuals have fallen at the first hurdle of the FA Trophy after a 3-1 defeat this evening to Leighton Town.

Despite taking an early lead through Reece Placid's deflected effort the visitors rallied and deservedly drew level when Phill Draycott curled home superbly.

The second half saw the Southern League side take control as Danny Watson slotted home following a defensive mix up,
The same player added a 3rd with 17 minutes left and despite a few near misses it wasn't to be Casuals night and the booked a trip to Leiston in the next round.

Casuals were denied a victory in the FA Trophy as Gary Ridgeway headed home in the 3rd minute of stoppage time to earn Leighton Town another bite of the cherry.

A thrilling cup tie at Bell Close which swung to and fro in a remarkable second half came to life when Jamie Byatt nodded home in the 58th minute. The Southern League side responded though with 2 goals in as many minutes as both Lester and Senla thumped home headers.
Casuals themselves responded straight away when Byatt smashed home the games 4th goal in 8 minutes.  The striker notches his hat-trick when he raced clear with 12 minutes remaining but the home side weren't down and Ridgeway saw his header cap off a dramatic afternoon.

The sides meet again this Tuesday 21st October at King Georges Arena 7.45pm
