Farewell to 'Busy' Jamie Byatt

It is with great sadness that we have to report the departure of club talisman, Jamie Byatt. The forward, who made history in January, by becoming the first Corinthian-Casuals player to ever wear the famous SC Corinthians Paulista shirt, has left the club to join Tooting & Mitcham United.

In recent seasons, Jamie has found incredible goal scoring form, having netted 60 goals in the last two seasons. With his goals, and likeness to former Corinthians goal keeper, Julio Cesar, he has become loved by millions of the fans both home and away, and he will be sorely missed.

At 33, who knows if we’ll ever see Jamie playing at the club again. Having scored 110 goals, he has become the second highest ever goal scorer for the club, behind Cliff West and it has been his goals in recent years that have seen the club escape relegation. In the 2013/14 season, he managed to miraculously carry the team to safety when all had seemed lost..

Casuals manager, James Bracken, has expressed great sadness to see Jamie leave but also respects the decision of the striker who wants guaranteed game time, and in his favoured position, of center forward. Something James Bracken was unable to offer Jamie, having assembled an exciting, young squad, full of attacking talent.

We wish Jamie the very best of luck with the move and look forward to welcoming him back to King George’s Arena, with his new team, when Casuals entertain Tooting & Mitcham on October 27th.

Jamie Says,

“To everybody at Corinthian-Casuals and SC Corinthians Paulista, after 287 appearances and 110 goals…it’s time for me to blow the whistle on this part of my career.

I would like to thank Corinthian-Casuals and SC Corinthians Paulista for the opportunity to go to Brazil, it was without doubt the highlight of my career and something I will never forget. I have a million memories that I will cherish forever.

Playing in front of 30,000 people at the Arena in Sao Paulo, not to mention the millions on TV, who witnessed me wearing the SC Corinthians shirt with pride…I’m just sorry I couldn’t score for you crazy bunch!!

This Casuals team and the many many moments we’ve shared together, will stay with me forever.

I must also mention the great fans and the support I’ve had at Casuals and SC Corinthians Paulista…thank you! But it’s now time for me to move on, I’m signing for Tooting & Mitcham. This was a decision that wasn’t made lightly and it was one of the hardest of my life to leave Casuals, a club that has been a part of my entire life and will continue to live in my heart.

Vai Corinthians!! Best of Love, Jamie.”
