STUART TREE MEMORIAL DAY

Sunday promises to be a very special day, as we host Stuart Tree Memorial Day.

Stuart was a much-loved member of this club: a supporter, who became our photographer, media officer and totemic figure both on the committee and in the stands. He was also one of the most talented creatives you are ever likely to meet. He passed away suddenly in April, aged 46, and this weekend we will celebrate his life and contribution to our community.

From 12.30pm, we will open a memorial garden, created by his brother Keith, and display an exhibition of Stuart’s work in the clubhouse, chosen by the public and curated by his close family and friends.

Stuart was also a partner to Katja and father to young Ethan, and the day begins with family in mind, as we hold our annual Family Fun Day in conjunction with the Corinthian-Casuals Youth Section. The fun begins at 11am and we invite you to bring the kids to enjoy themselves. We’ll have water slides, inflatable sumo wrestling and bouncy castles. We encourage kids to bring spare clothes!

The burger van and the bar will be open, while we’ll also have doughnuts, sweets and cakes on offer.

Then, at 2pm, the main event kicks off as we host a match between a Casuals Legends XI and the Fiel Londres, who are the London supporters’ club of Corinthians Paulista.

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista were founded on 1 September 1910, inspired by the touring Corinthian Football Club from London, who later amalgamated with Casuals FC to form Corinthian-Casuals.

Now one of the biggest clubs in Brazil, their supporters view us as their older sibling, and this game will be a celebration not just of the connection we have formed with the Fiel Londres but their fondness for Stuart, who took some of his best photographs when they were present here.

After the game, there will be a Brazilian barbecue and live music from a Corinthians-supporting Brazilian band.
The atmosphere promises to be electric. So block out the whole day and join us for a celebration of a talismanic figure in our recent history.
