Optimism Continues for Casuals

Corinthian-Casuals continued their good pre-season form with a deserved victory over Combined-Counties outfit Colliers Wood United on Saturday. Goals from Niall Wright, Stef Joseph and Juevan Spencer gave the amateurs a 3-2 win at Wibbandune.

And Casuals Boss James Bracken was pleased with the performance despite missing up to twelve of his squad for various reasons. Bracken remains optimistic about Corinth’s chances for the Ryman League campaign which starts with a home fixture to Worthing on August 8th.

“It was a good workout today even though we had twelve of the squad missing. Of that twelve, realistically, six or seven of them are first team players. So to still come here with a decent squad shows we have good strength in depth.

“Those who came on as a substitute today improved us and that showed in the second half. This is the first of four games in eight days now and we’re just looking to improve 45 minutes at a time.

“Even without a few of the boys like Diego (Maradona), Jamie (Byatt) and one or two others that’ll push for places in the starting line-up, we looked sharp. The competition is good, the attitude is bang on and they know they have to be at it! If they’re not, they know that someone else will step in and take their shirt.

“I’ll know more about what my preferred starting eleven is after the next three games.”

Casuals face Sutton Common Rovers on Wednesday before games against Ryman Premier opposition Met Police (1st August) and Kingstonian (3rd August).
