With great sadness, Corinthian-Casuals today can announce that our dear friend, supporter and club member, Keith Blunt, passed away yesterday. Keith was one of the most highly respected coaches of his generation and a cherished member of our football clubs family. His son, Tony, a former club captain who played over 450 games for the club, his daughter Kate and Keiths wife, Pauleen, are all very much in our thoughts and hearts today. In recent seasons, Keith could be found standing in front of the boardroom, cheering the team on. For anyone who had the pleasure of hearing his analysis in the bar after the final whistle, you knew immediately you were in the presence of a great football mind. Keiths career as a football coach took him all around the world. In the 1980's he managed the great Malmo side in Sweden, that went on to enjoy great success. In the 1990's, He was the head coach of the Lilleshall Academy, charged with nurturing such talents as Michael Owen, Jamie Carragher, Joe Cole and Emile Heskey... He also enjoyed spells as the head of development at Tottenham and even in later years, took charge of the Chinese national U23 and U19 sides... And yet he always came back down to Casuals to watch a game of football on a Saturday. Indeed he'd even take the first team training sessions at times, the great man lived and breathed Football. He'll be greatly missed by all of us at the club, his 8 year battle with Cancer had proved long and hard for him and we're just proud to have known him, proud he was a Corinthian. And he'll never be forgotten. A minute silence will be observed before the Whyteleafe match today in his memory. Selachii LLP – London-based award-winning commercial litigation lawyers will see their logo emblazoned on both home and away shirts. Speaking on behalf of the law firm, Simon Taylor spoke of the partnership, stating “It is the history, tradition and individuality of the Corinthian-Casuals FC that Selachii LLP is so privileged to sponsor. “We are delighted to support such a great family club with a deep-rooted unique history. We wish the club total success going forward and especially this coming 2016/2017 season and their bid for promotion to the Ryman Premier League.” Managing partner Richard Howlett added, “From our perspective Corinthian Casuals reflects everything we want our law firm to represent. Their passion, belief, determination and obvious ethics are why the club exists and why they continue to thrive after almost 150 years. They are an inspiration to us and a blueprint for the passion, belief, determination and ethics we want to deliver to our clients.” “It’s fantastic news” added Corinthian-Casuals Manager James Bracken. “What I like about them is they’ve already been involved. They’ve produced a fabulous documentary about the club and shown a real interest in what we’re about. “I’ve met both Richard and Simon in person and they’re very active, which is great. It’s nice to have sponsors who don’t just put money in because they want their name on the shirt but have rather bought into what we’re trying to achieve here. They believe in what we do; we’re an ambitious club who play without a budget. They’re very progressive as are we.” Corinthian-Casuals Club Secretary Hanna Newton also spoke on behalf of Casuals. “We are delighted to embrace Selachii LLP as a fresh, dynamic and engaged facet of this beautiful club. The projects that Simon & Richard have already worked on, both with and for us, are dynamic and we look forward to a long and exciting future with both partners fully involved in the club. The summer has been full of shared events and experiences that have grown our relationship and we very much look forward to welcoming Simon, Richard, their families and guests to our games on a very regular basis. “The company itself is an award winning law firm with a unique approach and excellent results, so please do familiarise yourselves with their website and get in touch should you need legal expertise.” Selachii have already produced a fantastic short film based around Academy player and lifelong Casuals fan, Billy Stringer.
