Corinthian-Casuals Football Club is delighted to announce that we are joining The Kingston Pound - the local currency that supports our local community. Kingston Pounds will now be accepted at the turnstiles, in the clubhouse bar and at the club shop at all Casuals home matches! Josh Uzun’s deflected equaliser in the 85th minute at Clarence Park on Tuesday means the two sides will have to face-off once again for the right to play Taunton Town in the next round. However, prior ground-share commitments which sees tenants Kingstonian play Folkestone Invicta remain honoured and therefore Casuals have sourced an alternative suitable venue for this replay. The option to play on the Sunday was removed by the FA as we await the lux certificate on the upgraded floodlights at King George’s Arena. Saturday was the only option given to the club for this fixture. Kickoff is at 3pm and our usual prices of £10 adults, £6 concessions and U16s free will remain in place. Season tickets are not valid for FA competitions. Imber Court’s address is Ember Lane, East Molesey, Surrey, KT8 0BT. It’s approximately 4 miles from King Georges. Nearest train station is Thames Ditton, a ten minute walk away. Trains from Waterloo to Hampton Court serve this line. Check with the train operator though as a planned RMT strike is due this weekend. The ground can be found within the Sports facility, walking past the gymnasium and indoor pool at the back of the main building. We’d like to extend our thanks to Hanna Newton and James Bracken for taking the time out of their working days – at their own cost, to arrange this fixture in the face of difficult and unusual circumstances. Also thanks to Met Police FC and St Albans for their co-operation. We apologise for the inconvenience that this set of circumstances has caused and hope you can all join us for what should be a wonderful afternoon of FA Cup entertainment. Corinthian-Casuals Manager James Bracken has been awarded Kingston-Upon-Thames Mayor’s Special Award for his services to football.
Martel Atterbury - Sports & Leisure Development Officer for the Council said, “The panel felt that this award would be very fitting to the role James has at the club and a fantastic way to celebrate his success.” Bracken is set to receive his award at a special presentation hosted at the Town Hall on October 8th. Bracken was nominated for his services to the club which is located in the south of the Royal Borough. The 34-year old has been manager for three seasons and in that time has taken the club to its highest position since the founding of Corinthian-Casuals in 1939 when the two parent clubs, Corinthians and Casuals, came together. As Vice President David Harrison says, “This is a remarkable achievement both for the manager and the club which continues to play as strictly amateur in the world of non-league football competing against clubs with large budgets.” Bracken has won numerous awards in his time at Casuals including multiple ‘Isthmian League Manager of the Month’ plaudits. He was also recognised by the Non League Paper as "one of the brightest prospects in management" From all at Corinthian-Casuals, we’re delighted that he’s once again been recognised for all of his efforts, commitment and success. Corinthian-Casuals face their sternest challenge on Tuesday night as James Bracken’s side travel to Clarence Park to face National League South high-flyers St Alban’s City in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round.
Coming off the back of his heaviest defeat in his time at Tolworth, Bracken must quickly rally his troops to ensure they are prepared to face the highest scoring side in the league above. The Saints added another four to their impressive tally at the weekend, winning 4-2 at Chelmsford City. Ralston Gabriel doing the damage bagging all four goals. He’s clearly the danger man having notched nine goals this season. Ian Allinson’s side currently sit in sixth position having won their four previous league matches. This will be their first Cup test of the season, entering at this stage. Allinson, an ex-Arsenal, Luton and Colchester winger took charge of the Saints in 2016 and guided them to an eighth place finish in the league last season. Casuals were fortuitous to reach this stage having lost to Whyteleafe in the previous round, following a replay at Church Road. The day before Leafe and St Albans were due to meet, the Surrey club were slapped with a charge having played an ineligible player in the previous round at Saltdean. Therefore, they were removed from the competition and Casuals re-instated in their place. This is the furthest that Corinth have reached in the competition since 2001, where they were soundly beaten 6-0 by Basingstoke Town. Casuals and the Saints have a long history of matches between them, being old Isthmian foes for decades. However, they last met in league competition in 1977 when St Albans ran out 4-0 winners. The winners of this tie will face Taunton Town away on Saturday, having pocketed a further £9,000 in prize money. Should the result be a draw, the replay will take place at Tolworth on Saturday 6th October, 3pm. Therefore, if Casuals advance in the competition or take it to a replay, the trip to Bognor Regis Town will be put back until a later date. St Albans City play at the Clarence Park Stadium, York Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL1 4PL. It’s just under 50 miles from King George’s Arena and in good traffic (M25? Hah!) should take approximately an hour. For those looking to let the train take the strain, take the Overground from Clapham Junction to West Hampstead and change onto the Thameslink service to St Albans City. The stadium is approximately 10 minutes walk from the station. There is a supporter’s coach leaving from the Chessington Oak pub in… erm, Chessington at 5.30pm. Contact Dan Harris (twitter @dh5603) for booking details. It’s £20 return. We hope you can join us and that once again, James and his side can make a little more history.
