One visitor, Tim Lancaster, who travelled in from Somerset to sample the Corinthian Spirit got back to us with:
"Enjoyed the day at Casuals yesterday, great support from your fans, brilliant, what it should be about - Back to Somerset at 9.00pm"
Due to the terrible weather over the last couple of months Tim was anxious to know if the game was on as his train left early Saturday morning. Not only was the game played but we had one the best Saturdays for a long while. Maybe the sun does deserve a mention in the opening sentence then.
Well, the relationship has strengthened further since then and an example of such was seeing Trevor Johnson, on behalf of the club, make the decision to place his chocolate and pink Corinthian-Casuals scarf amongst the floral tribute to England's finest. The club even included a piece on the Preston legend in our last programme edition v Merstham. See programme Gallery.
After seeing our scarf one Preston fan got in contact with us:
Dear Sir,
Today I attended the Sir Tom Finney statue and now memorial at PNEFC with my Father. My father watched England's finest ever player and my home city's greatest ever citizen many times. In amongst all the shirts, flowers and scarves from various teams amongst the land was a pink Corinthian Casuals scarf.
My sister lives in Surrey and I was really touched by the scarf. The name of Corinthian-Casuals has been raised in Lancashire and may I thank the person who left the scarf from everybody in Preston for honouring our legend.
Thank you.
On behalf of Corinthian-Casuals Football Club to fans around the UK, Europe, Brazil and the rest of the world world who support us in all the ways possible, we thank you!
